Please send your available matching candidates on [email protected] Job Title - Mid Level Teradata DBA Location: San Jose, CA (work onsite is required) Citizenship: US Citizen or GC holders ONLY Interview Method: Phone (local candidates ONLY) Duration: 6 months with possible extensions Provide consulting to Teradata customers on how to effectively: • Develop standards and procedures for the Teradata DBMS environment • Design the database • Plan database capacity • Participate in the design of hardware and software management processes • Implement/maintain database user roles, security, and permissions • Implement /maintain database system security and diagnostics • Maintain distributed database management and control • Monitor database performance and identification of issues/errors • Interface with SQL developers for performance and data access requirements • Interface with Teradata Customer Service support personnel Minimum Requirements: The consultant must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or foreign equivalent with three to five years of progressive post-baccalaureate work experience. This experience must include Application DBA experience and responsibilities in a large Teradata database environment either as a customer or as a consultant. In addition, the resource must have current certification in Teradata Basics and Teradata Database Administration or have an equivalent level of experience in this role. The consultant must be able to work on their own with very limited expert level support. Basic Qualifications: The consultant needs to be able to provide the following technical capabilities: • Lead in development of DBA standards and guidelines and develop UDF scripts • Work with DDL generators/development tools for handling DDL for volumes of tables macros and views, ETL data cleansing design and code, tools for data movement, and maintain change control during development • Knowledge of various types of languages and tools such as SQL, C++, stored procedures, macros, and ETL. • Generation and maintenance of reports for Perm space usage trend • Design and implementation of reports to monitor system usage and growth trends • Development of system resource and usage reports for management including capacity calculation spreadsheets (for performance and capacity) • Data definition maintenance utilities and administration • Development of standard userid, role profile, development of security access rights, code maintenance macros, code stored procedures for maintenance of users access rights • Understanding of access rights and implications in hierarchy of roles profiles and rights (Understand the 3 types of access rights and how they are acquired) • PDCR knowledge and how to load various spreadsheet data using OLE load, or TPT, Macro level performance tuning • Good understanding of parallel specific concepts • Identification of individual running performance issues: • Monitor - Viewpoint, use of TSET, index wizard, other tools for tuning • Ability to track running performance issues thru Viewpoint, identify hot amps, On-the-Fly complex recovery of data via B/R • Understand dynamic explains and track through optimizer steps • Watch spool space per amp and look for spikes • Identify and resolve many to many joins, know different types of change data capture, temporal issues • Work with Teradata Customer Services on Database fixes and releases Preferred Qualifications: A Masters degree in computer science is highly desirable as well as current Teradata Certification in Physical Database design, Teradata SQL and a Teradata Masters Certification.
