Job Description *Position * Release Manager *Location* Philadelphia, PA *Experience* *6+* *Job Description* *Role Summary* The Software Maintenance and Enhancement Release Manager has overall responsibility for supporting the stabilization, growth, and maturity of Group IT’s strategic assets through effective and efficient software delivery of application enhancements and production fixes. The Release Manager is accountable for collaborating with Program Managers, Business and IT Project Managers, Business Analysts, Product Managers, Software Delivery Leads, Implementation Coordinators, and QA Managers to define backlog priorities, develop delivery plans, track release health, resolve issues and risks, and ensure the quality of code that is released to Production. This role requires focus on software delivery execution and support for application enhancements and production fixes in the Group Disability and Life space. Able to understand software solutions, makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous issues, and effectively communicates to individuals at various levels of the technical and business communities. Develops a strong affiliation with the requirements, quality assurance and production services organizations, including the ability to use, share, contribute and influence the appropriate artifacts, approach and best-practices for maintenance and fix support. *Responsibilities* · Partners with Business and IT Production Services in the analysis of software issues and determination of root cause · Partners with Project Managers, Analysts, Software Technology Leads, and QA Leads to prioritize release content, manage schedule and completeness of analysis and design strategies, manage delivery schedule and dependencies, and ensure timeliness and quality of QA test plans and execution status reports · Responsible for tracking delivery status, release status and backlog of production software fixes, program deferred defect fixes, change requests, software enhancements and other software maintenance activities · Responsible for maintaining Group's software maintenance release schedule across all Claims business domain and coordinating release dates with program portfolio dates · Responsible for managing resource capacity in alignment with agreed maintenance and fix scope and budget availability for all software maintenance activities · Accountable for the definition of unit test guidelines and oversight to ensure adherence to those guidelines · Accountable for the communication for the scheduling, content management, and status reporting of software maintenance releases across all business domains · Accountable for sound technical decisions and influencing across IT and our vendor partner community to enlist the support of others towards achieving expected delivery results · Accountable for ensuring software is developed with quality and integrity and fixes are delivered per agreed upon schedules · Partners with Change Management and Release Management teams for technical instructions in support of software deployment, configuration management, release management and implementation activities *Qualifications* · Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of peers and key stakeholders; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity Ability to navigate matrixed organizations effectively · Results-oriented, diligent and works with a sense of urgency · Assertive, responsible for his/her own work (self-directed), have a strong affinity for defining work in deliverables, and be willing to commit to deadlines · Possess knowledge and expertise in the use of various delivery methodologies (waterfall, agile, and iterative) · Influential, focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure · Ability to collaborate and build relationships with various functions across the delivery chain · Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity, maturity and precision both written and verbally · Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills · Excellent prioritization and negotiation skills · Understanding of J2EE, DataStage and .NET technology stacks preferred · Experience with Application Lifecycle Management and Problem Tracking tools (JIRA, ALM, HPSM) · Experience with iterative/agile software development techniques and methodology · Experience supporting multiple, complex, integrated work-streams simultaneously · 3+ years of experience leading application development projects · 3+ years of project management experience -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "US_IT.Groups" group.
