Duration: 9+ Months

Job Description:

   - Environment/Release Manager is responsible for planning, coordination
   and oversight of multiple environments during system releases and
   deployments. This will include management, orchestration and communication
   related to multiple SFDC Orgs related to Veeva CRM, Service Cloud, Veeva
   MDM, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Commercial Data warehouses,
   Informatica/ETL and BI Platforms under Biogen’ s Commercial landscape.
   - Environment/Release management is one of the most intense activity
   during Commercial IT project releases/deployments globally across 30+
   affiliates, Vendor releases (3 Salesforce releases, 3 Veeva CRM releases, 3
   Veeva MDM releases, 3 AEM releases, Informatica, BI Platform releases),
   Minor Enhancement release cycles across these platforms. This role demands
   organized work necessary to orchestrate the movement of data and metadata
   throughout the environments. The key success factors for this role are to
   establish right environment/release management strategy, engage right
   resources (functional and technical), and establish effective processes
   that can optimize and improve the environment utilization and timely
   release of environment space for other planned/prioritized system
   releases/deployments.
   - The environments scope for this role is to have complete
   responsibility related to System Integration Testing, Staging (wherever
   exists), User Acceptance Testing, Training (wherever exists) and Production
   Support Environments only. Development Environments are completely managed
   by Solution Development teams and are not in scope. Developers are
   responsible for unit testing and automated testing for these environments.


Key Responsibilities
Environment Management:

   - Publish and maintain Commercial Environment Inventory.
   - Keep the Plan current when new system introduced into Commercial IT
   landscape.
   - Gather Environment Requirements for all planned / prioritized system
   releases and deployments.
   - Develop a holistic environment management plan.
   - Present and Publish the Environment Management Plan to key
   stakeholders and obtain signoff.
   - Changes to the plan should be backed by stakeholders’ approval and
   signoff.
   - Ensure the Unit testing in Dev environments was thorough to avoid
   unforeseen issues in SIT/UAT.
   - Renew/Recycle environments in a timely manner for optimizing space and
   costs.
   - Work with the Application Owners on the system refreshes.
   - When there are competing priorities act as the single point of contact
   for conflict resolutions.
   - Conduct periodic Environment Management meetings.
   - Communicate plans and status; escalate issues as required.
   - Release Management
   - Release management and Environment Management go hand-in-hand. Drive
   conversations with Solutions Development & Delivery teams for making
   informed decisions on Environment availability and utilization for planned
   releases.
   - Publish Environment occupancy status for planned releases and
   deployments.
   - Organize, lead conversations and obtain signoff from cross-functional
   teams on environment utilization to support releases of varying size,
   complexity and duration.
   - Work with Change Management group to align and manage change control
   processes for changes to code lines and production environments.
   - Manage environments to support release readiness and the project
   success criteria based on business requirements.
   - Proactively identify and mitigate risks and remove obstacles.
   - Guide the completion of root cause analysis to ensure environment
   issues do not recur during releases.
   - Provide visibility and oversight for deployment of releases into
   production environments using online release calendar.
   - Communicate plans and status; escalate issues as required.

Desired Experience

   - 4 – 6+ years of experience in effectively managing multiple
   application environments and system releases


Education

   - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required, Master’s Degree or similar
   preferred plus 10 - 12+ years of overall IT experience is desirable.
