Role: Workday Financials Report Developer Duration: 11 month Location: New Haven, CT Interview: Face to Face Description Position Overview: The Workday implementation at Yale requires experienced Workday report developers. Must have experience with Workday report development, including composite reporting and dashboard development. Demonstrated knowledge of Workday Financial business objects and data sources. In-depth experience creating complex calculated fields to meet report requirements. Essential Duties (Day-to-Day Activities): Technical Design • Designs Workday Custom Report and Dashboards based on customer access requirements, data requirements, analysis of data sources, current reporting environment and functional design and in accordance with Yale Reporting Development standards and best practices. • Performs the detailed design of reports. • Performs analysis of report requirements and build reports using Workday best practices and efficiencies. • Assesses availability of data (sources & target) and recommends required changes to enable reporting. • Provide guidance as the subject matter expert of the various Workday reporting tools and best practice, including data source usage, calculated field logic, custom report and dashboard development. • Utilize professional code of ethics regarding confidentiality of information and protecting rights of end-users and owners of data. Build • Develops reports that are in compliance with customer requirements, security requirements and best practice. • Works with Technical and Functional Leads to complete the build and deployment activities needed to support BI reporting/analytics requirements. • Participates in code reviews with peers in the reporting services group. Test • Develops and executes unit test plans to ensure reporting is operating to specifications. • Attends meeting with functional partners to prototype reports and refine based on feedback. Education / Related Experience: 1. Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science or Management Information Systems and more than 7 years of working experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience 2. At least 2 years’ experience with Workday Financials in a report development role Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 1. Demonstrated proficiency in creating Workday custom reports and dashboards 2. Advanced knowledge of Finance Workday object model and composite reporting 3. Comprehensive understanding of Workday Security as it relates to reporting. 4. Excellent knowledge of Workday custom report and dashboard features 5. Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and planning skills 6. Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills are essential 7. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently but as a member of a team 8. Excellent understanding of complex financial and business processes 9. Must be able to understand complex requirements and design reports to meet needs. 10. Must be able to develop solutions independently with little technical oversight 11. Ability to work effectively with a diverse group 12. Self-motivated and organized with a well-developed sense of time, projects, and priorities management. 13. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. 14. Preferred: Workday HCM knowledge preferred, but not required.
