Role: Network Engineer Duration: Above 8 months Location: Brooklyn, NY 11201 Only Candidates with GC/EAD, GC, USC SCOPE OF SERVICES: • Research, evaluate and recommend network architecture solutions based on performance, stability, availability, cost-efficiency, and development requirements needed to assist new applications and the users in E9-1-1n call taking and dispatch environment; • Collaborate with and advise colleagues on policies and procedures, technical problem resolution, and best practices for network infrastructure design and implementation; • Consult with and advise users of various technology infrastructure designs and architecture models; generate conceptual, logical, and physical network architectures, test plans, requirements, use cases, interface control documents, and risk assessments to ensure the design and delivery of network LAN/WAN architecture that conforms to application and user requirements; assist project management with the design, procurement, installation, cutover, and reporting activities; • Develop and coordinate system lifecycle management with ITSM including developing or reviewing asset, configuration, change, and security for network system; research and analyze significant and complex network problems; and perform special projects and initiatives as assigned. Deliverables: • Network Device Cabling and port assignments. • Network cabinet configuration and rack elevation diagrams. • Document PSAC2 network device naming convention and device names (device usernames). • Document PSAC2 IPv4 address. • Document PSAC2 IPv6 address. Document PSAC2 VESTA and ECTP2 VLAN. • Update Layer 2 and Layer 3 Visio diagrams. • PSAC2 network engineering document. • Document Test Report. • Follow up on all required network task assign from the various work steams. MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: • At least 8 years of experience with data center and enterprise LAN and WAN planning, design, implementation (builds and expansion), security, and management. • Experience with OSI Layer 1 (L1) through L7 protocols. • Experience with Cisco and other vendor routers, switches, firewalls, IPSs, test tool installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and management. • Experience with rack/cabinet configuration and elevation diagrams. • Experience with Cisco IOS release and Cisco ASR router platforms, Cisco ISR router platforms, Cisco Nexus 7000 and 7700 series platforms, Cisco Nexus 3000 series platforms, ASA firewalls, IPS, load balancers, Catalyst 6500 series platforms, Catalyst 4700 series platforms, Catalyst 3800 series platforms. • Experience with network test tools, testing procedures and execution, and reporting. • A thorough understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 unicast and multicast routing, routed and routing protocols, their limitations and constraints, as well as network services, protocols, and applications. • Experience with IPv4/ IPv6 technologies and routing to include OPSFv2 and OSPFv), EIGRP, BGP/MPLS, OTV/VDC layer 2 extension, vPC, PIM Sparse-dense mode/IGMP, HSRP, H.323, SIP, MGCP, SCCP hardware and software, EtherChannel, PortChannel, STP, Rapid PVST+, PortFast, LACP, and other STP protocols. • Experience with the execution of installation and maintenance of network software and hardware. • Experience with writing end-to-end network documentation and writing technical engineering documents, Engineering Troubleshooting Guide, and certification documents. • Ability to develop and execute test plans and procedures to certify hardware, software, and services. • Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues, determine the root cause of problems, and resolve problems/issues. • Experience with capacity planning, proof of concept testing and certification. • Understanding with full FCAP functions and ITIL set of best practices. Experience with validating network management tools and features. DESIREABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: • Self-starter with good interpersonal skills, team player, good oral and written communication, and consulting network services. • Ability to work in cross functional teams; excellent attention to detail. • Candidate should be highly self-motivated and have strong customer and quality-focus. • Sound problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills; • Experience working with technical and non-technical staff. • Experience reviewing project design and system documents.
