Sr. Application Packaging Consultant Location: Gaithersburg MD USA Duration: 6+ months ***LOCALS IF POSSIBLE*** GPO / VMware / Application Certifications Required Skills: • Strong and demonstrated enterprise experience in desktop troubleshooting, problem diagnosis, migration planning, design and implementation. • Strong troubleshooting skills with various COTS products. • Strong demonstrated experience with Active Directory • Strong demonstrated experience in end-user device technologies, security tools, desktop deployment and utilities related to desktop service. • Experience in collaboration technologies including products such as SharePoint and Instant Messaging, etc. • Evaluate, work with vendors and new technology, and test and create custom software distribution packages using PowerShell, MSI\MST technologies, InstallShield, AutoIT, Active Directory Group Policies and triggered scripts (login, logoff, etc.) • Ability to represent EUC Engineering team on projects. • Proven expertise at the enterprise level in the management, design, development and deployment of integrated desktop solutions including overall architecture for AD synchronization and policy management services • Matches IT product offerings with the business needs and develop solutions to complex customer requirements • Evaluate future state and leading edge technologies and provide detailed recommendations on adoption of these technologies. • Responsible for engineering complex integrated services for the desktop, as well as integrated end-user systems that operate with other networked services • Leads evaluation of new product features or upgrades KEY TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: • VMware • Active Directory -GPO • Extensive Knowledge of Windows 7 /10 • PowerShell • .Net scripting • MSI & Windows Installer Technology • Macrovision Adminstudio tools for Application Packaging including Installshield • Wise Package Studio • Vendor .MSI customization using Transforms (.MST) • Ability to use one or more development language (C++, PHP, HTML, etc.) • XML file manipulation • Windows Remediation and Shims • App-V • VMware • Active Directory and Group Policy • Working in an Application Packaging role for standardised and ‘locked down’ environments • Knowledge of Windows 7 • Visual Basic Scripting for use in custom actions • ICE and ACE resolutions • Knowledge of a wide range of packaging tools including SetACLS, Dependancywalker, Procmon, Regmon and Picturetaker • Creation and Implementation of Transforms (.MST), Merge Modules (.MSM) and Patches (.MSP) within an application package • Imaging software including Microsoft WAIK tools • Understand and isolate application and OS compatibility problems • Elementary knowledge of Active directory • Knowledge of different operating systems like Windows 2003 server , Windows 2008, Windows 7 and Windows8 • Responsible for studying the application behavior and creating packages adhering to the Organization standards with minimal impact on the environment. • Using VBScripts for various purposes such as Services, Permissions, COM, Files\Folders and Registry etc. • Handling of any issues in the production environment • Point of contact for production and maintenance issues • Good knowledge of troubleshooting windows server issues KEY PERSONAL SKILLS: • Diligent and accurate worker • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal • Ability to work well under pressure within a team and also as an individual • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of computing, including both software and hardware • Conscientious and self motivated • Have a customer focused, service orientated approach • Proven organisational and time management skills • Ability to communicate and interact well at all levels • Understanding of product licensing both standalone and corporate wide • Ability to gather customer requirements and engineer solutions.
