The Computer Application Engineer’s (CAE) primary duty will be to come up to
speed quickly and reduce overall development time by working as a team with
another DOJ ITSD Computer Application Engineer/Team Lead on an application
called OSCAR.  OSCAR allows the Office of Consumer Protection to track
consumer complaints throughout the business process and generate reports.
It consists of a thick client (VB .NET), a web service (VB .NET), and a
database (Oracle 10g).  The CAE will be tasked with fixing new and existing
bugs and implementing enhancements.  These changes are needed in all layers
(client, web service, and DB) of the application.  Therefore, the CAE must
be versed in the programming language of each and every layer.
Additionally, the CAE will be responsible for testing and documenting
his/her changes and deploying those changes at regular intervals.



*Responsibilities
*Fix new and existing bugs/design and implement enhancements in all layers
of the application (VB .NET thick client, VB .NET web service, and Oracle
10g database)
Refactor or tune performance, time permitting
Test changes in all affected layers
Develop/test/fix/deploy new reports in Crystal Reports.  Maintain existing
reports written in Active Reports.
Document changes and important workings of the application
Deploy changes at regular intervals
Collaborate with customer to clarify requirements of the desired change or
provide feedback
Produce status reports
