*Senior Sybase DBA*

*Location: Houston, TX*

*Duration: 6+ Months*

*LOCAL to Houston is HIGHLY Preferred.*



*Responsibilities: *

Administration and Monitoring of Sybase environment and if skilled in SQL
will do MS SQL Server database admin. Responsibilities include systems state
and performance monitoring, tuning, patch migration and enhancement
deployments, production code deployments, instance restarts, and daily
trouble shooting of database components. Some of these activities will have
to be performed after hours and on weekends to minimize downtime for users.
There will be a 24/7 on-call rotation of approximately 1-2 weeks per month.

Configuration of new instances added to all environments. Assist development
staff with procedure and package performance tuning.

Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) responsibilities for Sybase or MS SQL
Server database components in the Production environment.



*Deliverables*

Ensure 99.99% reliability of the Sybase and MS SQL Server trading databases
in the Production environment.

Experience & Knowledge



*Required experience: *

7+ years of current System & Application Sybase DBA experiences

Knowledge of system-level tables & views Allocate system storage and plan
future capacity Create and modify database objects and storage structures
Install, upgrade and patch multiple versions of Sybase ASE RDBMS Install,
upgrade and patch multiple versions of MS SQL Server RDBMS Backup and
recovery skills (analysis, strategies and options) and implementation
(scripts, automation, verification).

Database and application performance tuning Knowledge of shell scripting
(KSH, CSH) Experience in high availability and disaster recovery solutions
Solid T-SQL, Trigger, and Stored Procedure coding and tuning skills Work
closely with third-party vendor for Software releases Coordinate database
maintenance with application support teams



*Ideal to have: *

Knowledge of and experience with Sybase ASE 15.x Experience with ASE 15.x
Cluster Edition and Partitioning setup and implementation Knowledge of and
experience with MS SQL Server 2008 Exposure to third-party Change Management
Tools, such as ClearCase, Remedy, etc...

Able to manage databases in UNIX/Solaris environment Able to manage
databases in Windows environment Knowledge of Veritas Cluster Services
Experience in MS Analysis Services

2+ years experience as an Oracle DBA

Knowledge of and experience with Oracle 11g Exposure to third-party Energy
Trading software such as SunGards Entegrate, Structure Consulting Groups
nMarket products ITIL Foundation Certification Sybase and/or Microsoft DBA
Certification
