*Summary:
*This position is Primary for Teradata database administrator DBA, who is
responsible for design, development and administration of large scale (14TB
- 26TB in size) analytical data structures on various databases like
Teradata. Included within those responsibilities are the areas of data
access and delivery technologies.
Duties include but not limited to: Logical data modeling, physical database
design, implementation and testing of large scale database structures.
Map business requirements into system requirements. .
Performance monitoring and tuning including SQL optimization and tuning.
Shell and Batch scripting. Software installs and upgrades.
*Responsibilities
*Monitoring and administration of Teradata Databases.
Install, Setup and configure Teradata Database. Database Patching and
Upgrade.
Administration, Backup and retention policy implementation. Creating and
Setting up of new Backup and restore jobs using Netback up media and TARA
server.
Nice to have experience with Teradata Communication Logical Data Model.
Contact to Teradata Support to resolve issues like performance and product
support. Following up with vendor on the Teradata Hardware Alerts.
Setup and configure Replication, Mirroring, and DR on the Servers.
Scripting for automation of tasks.
Managing Database Jobs, parameter tuning.
Troubleshooting database related issues.
Analyzing/Validating Database segments.
Housekeeping activities, Health, Performance monitoring.
Support development team, Test team, fixing daily development backup job
issues, Client Installation support on Users Desktops.
Ensures that mission critical databases and devices are available and
operating year-round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, required off-hours and
on-call rotational support.
In depth knowledge of Teradata utilities such as Multiload, Fastexport,
BTEQ, Fastload, Teradata Parallel Transporter.
Maintains data standards, creates database documentation methods and
procedures including data standards, policies, procedures and definitions
for the data dictionary ('metadata').
Application Outages Handling.
Security administration using roles and profiles mechanism, Create user,
Grant permission, role and privileges.
Setup and follow-up of various database alerts.
Create User Database, Create Tables/views, Procedure/and macros.
Teradata object migration, Migration of code from Dev/QA/Test/Production.
Experience using Teradata Viewpoint portal and TASM is a plus
Hands on experience on performance tuning of complex SQLs with Teradata
Experience using Teradata Data Mover and multi system manager is a plus
Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned
*Minimum Requirements
*Strong preference for a minimum 3 to 5 years of experience with Teradata
DBA support for production Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business
Intelligence systems.
Familiarity with ETL tools.
Familiarity with BI reporting tools e.g. Cognos, Micro strategy and OBIEE.
Very good team player.
Ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries.
Excellent oral, written, analytical, problem solving and presentation
skills.
