Job Title: Sr. Unix/Linux Engineer Location: San Diego, CA Duration: 6 Months Responsibilities · Install Server OS using the client's automated tools and following the client's best practices/configuration guidelines (Linux – Debian, CentOS, Oracle Enterprise Linux; Solaris 10; Windows Server) · Build Windows cluster for SQL · Work with DBA’s to install/configure DB clusters (SQL and Oracle RAC) · Build Xen containers for Zeus load balancers and jmeter · Install Zeus and jmeter per direction of Active team · Integrate all gear to Active Directory for authentication working with Active team · Build Solaris Zones for application servers and work with the client's SCM team to facilitate code deployment · Document current configuration of BI/BO/DW hardware in SD office server room · Prepare Visio diagrams of configuration/wiring/connectivity – rack level, physical, and logical for the BI/BO/DW hardware · Work with their network team to ensure AIS network is configured to support the current requirements of BI/BO/DW · Coordinate with datacenter resource to move gear from SD office to AIS datacenter · Ensure all BI/BO/DW components hardware, software, app, etc. are monitored and appropriate trending graphs built in Cacti · Ensure that BI/BO/DW environment is fully documented in documentation system · Configure Netapp storage for performance environment needs as required · Configure network ports as required · Configure datacenter PDU’s to send power data to Cacti and build appropriate graphs · Monitoring/Trending configuration for all devices and resources in Perf environment · Migrate AIS monitoring tool from free version of tool to enterprise version of tool working with enterprise monitoring team · Troubleshoot any problems encountered · Create runbooks and detailed visio diagrams for entire Perf environment · Provide clean handoff of the environment to the client's team with above doc deliverables · DNS updates in DEV environment following their best practices · Add all devices physical or virtual to cacti and monitoring tools working with Active team · Automate additional monitoring configuration through integration with existing cfengine working with enterprise monitoring team Datacenter tasks such as · Receive, rack, label equipment · Capture inventory data for all current and new equipment including serial number, vendor/model, hardware specs, apply their asset tag, and send the data to the client's staff in a CSV format using template provided · Provide packing slips to their staff electronically (i.e. scanned and sent as PDF) · Cable all equipment professionally (cable and tools located in cabinet) · All physical work at datacenter · Document all network and power connections and provide mapping and/or diagrams on a monthly basis or more frequently if requested for specific projects · Configure PDU's to send power data via SNMP to their Cacti server · Ensure cage is kept neat and organized · Other duties as assigned Thanks & Regards, John Smith CAT Technology Inc.
