* * *JOB TITLE: Network Engineer* *Location : TX* *START DATE: ASAP approximately 4/25/11* *HOURS: 8-24 hours per week* *DURATION: Initial contract for 350 hours * * * *DESCRIPTION/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:* Performs advanced, complex network and computer systems analysis work. Work involves activities associated with local and wide area network, security software and appliances as well as PCs and Windows servers. Performs network installation, training, documentation, monitoring and analysis. Evaluates and recommends potential network, security, and systems enhancements. Analyzes network, procedures and problems to improve existing systems. Monitor network and system logs and report any significant events to supervisor. Document and initiate steps to monitor the network and best practices to mitigate any risks from these events. Support or assist in support of Windows PC and Windows servers. WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge of the practices, principles, and techniques of network and computer operations. Knowledge of limitations and capabilities of network and security systems and techniques used in these systems. Ability to install, configure, modify, upgrade, and troubleshoot network and security appliances. Ability to detect network attacks or suspicious behavior and use network resources to isolate and secure systems. Ability to train others in the daily management of these systems. Ability to document network and security layouts and configurations.
