*The Virginia Department of General Services has an opportunity for a
Database Administrator (DBA) who will be responsible for the administration,
maintenance, and planning for the Oracle Server database environment, as
well as backup SQL Server DBA support. Position will assist IT project teams
in data modeling development and application trouble-shooting. The
successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and enforcing
guidelines and standards for relational databases in a client-server and
web-based environment. Define and establish the necessary infrastructure to
effectively support the information architecture. Support agency database
consolidation and data migration initiatives.
Highly self-directed and have strong DBA experience in working with Oracle
8i or higher and SQL Server 2005 or higher. Must possess a strong
understanding of the database development lifecycle including data modeling,
database coding, testing, and implementation. Must have an in-depth
knowledge of Windows OS, capable of performing daily troubleshooting and
support in an enterprise web hosting environment. Candidate must have an
understanding of change management control. Must possess knowledge of
writing SQL scripts. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work
well in teams, as well as working independently within a fast-paced, dynamic
environment are required.
Bachelors Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science, or an
equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience supporting
Livelink Document Management, Linux or Unix System Administration, a bonus.
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification preferred.
