Rate :market Duration : 9 Months+ Location : San Jose CA Primary Job Responsibilities: The eBay QA and development operations team is searching for an extremely capable engineer with web services development experience. The successful candidate will work with cross-functional engineering teams to define and implement scalable and extensible applications in a large enterprise environment. Implement solutions to complex challenges and develop apps to power the evolution of the Dev/QA environment. This Tools/Infrastructure Software Engineer will work closely with systems engineers and cross functional peers to design, build and support the automation tools to manage inventory, provisioning, monitoring and maintenance of a large Unix based compute infrastructure supporting Dev/QA. • Designing, building and supporting our Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) initiatives with a focus on core services such as LDAP, DNS, load balancers, compute capacity and storage. • Work within our python, mySQL, perl, git, JIRA, extJS, jQuery, Java and Hudson/Jenkins environment. • Evaluating new & emerging technologies and methods, including review and authoring test plans, test execution, performance data collection and analysis, employing a scientific yet business-based approach to evaluation criteria. • Participating as a key contributor on cross-functional projects (supporting business or infrastructure projects. • Assessing resource utilization to troubleshoot and performance tune automation systems. • Automation of provisioning and maintenance of a large environment using a variety of vendor and custom infrastructure APIs. • Addressing provisioning, decommissioning, configuration and break/fix for Sun, HP, IBM, NetApp, Hitachi & other hardware. Job Requirements: • The highly qualified candidate will have the following experience and behaviors: • BS/BA in CS or related field and minimum 5 years experience delivering applications and features on time and to requirements, without quality issues in a scrum/agile environment. • Program with API of a variety of enterprise systems, including DNS, servers, hypervisors, load balancers, storage. For example, able to code RESTful and SOAP API, JSON/XML and a JavaScript framework. • Expertise in creating elegant applications with at least one of python, perl, extJS, jQuery, Java or Django. Encouraged to advance in all of these. • Working knowledge of git, JIRA, Subversion, Eclipse and Hudson/Jenkins • Working knowledge of MySQL and Oracle environments • Familiar with Python-nose, PyMock and Test Driven Design (TDD) • Comfortable working in a RedHat, Ubuntu and Solaris environment • Proficiency with common Unix System administration tools. • Broad knowledge of common applications and technologies in Internet computing (web servers, proxies, load balancers, databases, appliances, client/server, etc). • Exhibits leadership qualities and strong procedural and architectural documentation skills. • Flexible, adaptable, and able to autonomously manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Learns quickly. • Excellent communication and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics and business issues/concerns with peers, management and vendors. • Monitoring software (Nagios, Cacti, Tivoli) and datacenter experience a plus. • Collaborative team-player with a positive, can-do attitude.
