*Title: HPC/Linux Administrator Location: Moline, Illinois Duration: Long Term (1+ Year)* *Job Description* Client is seeking an individual to be part of a larger team, to support the HPC environment for a Fortune 500 company. This is a long term contract position with the potential to be hired for the right candidate. *Primary Position Responsibilities & Duties* • Strong understanding in administrating linux-based HPC(High Performance Computing) Clusters • Ability to design, build, and administer HPC environments using standard common architectures • Ability to create, maintain, and implement scripts in order to reduce administrative efforts. • Monitor capacity, and performance of HPC clusters existing in a number of remote locations *In this position you will also:* • Assist a global team in the administration of the company's server environment. Required to cross administer, implement, support, and troubleshoot complex problems in the following environments: VMWare, Linux, Windows, AIX, and Solaris. • Implementing on-going infrastructure maintenance and improvements, including off-hours activities • Participate in a 12 hour, 7 day per week, on-call support rotation • Respond to support requests received via shared mailbox on a rotation basis • Providing timely server recovery • Building, de-installing, and upgrading servers • Participate in and/or manage medium to large sized projects *Required Skills, Knowledge, & Relevant Work Experience* • 3+ years experience with managing/maintaining a linux-based HPC environment • 3+ years experience in administrating servers running Red Hat Linux • Knowledge and experience in using NFS • Familiar with DHCP, WINS, DNS, and familiarity with TC/IP networking • Ability to troubleshoot in a complex distributed environment • Ability to participate and contribute to a strong, supportive team environment. • Ability to operate in a multi-platform, multi-operating system, multi-component Environment utilizing a large number of server builds and configurations. • Solid analytical skills and the desire to gain further experience in multiple technologies • Enthusiastic and self-starter *Additional Comments* Desired Skills and Experience • Experience or knowledge in using HP CMU • Experience or knowledge in configuring Infiniband switches • Experience or knowledge in configuring/maintaining HP blade servers in a C7000 enclosure. • Familiarity with change management in a complex hosting environment • Scripting experience in PERL • Knowledge of Active Directory and related security architectures • Excellent verbal and written skill • Project management skills and the demonstrated ability to drive for results.
