Position: Network Admin
Client: DOR/ State of CO
Location: Denver, CO
Duration: 6-18 months +

Description:
Network Administrator for the Colorado Department of Human Services
(CDHS).  Provide technical support to end-users; includes
troubleshooting, resolution and diagnosis of network and communication
issues, within the infrastructure.  This position must be able to
configure, administer and deploy mission critical network,
communication and security technologies utilized in the CDHS
infrastructure.  Administration includes, but is not limited to
network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and network
management software and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Provide technical guidance and solutions to technical problems
encountered, as needed.  Position is a major contributor for technical
issues to department managers in the formulation of policy, guidelines
and the accomplishments of project goals, objectives and activities
using special experience, knowledge and problem solving skills.
Adheres to State Security Policies and/or mandates.  Assists in
developing strategic and tactical goals in support the information
technology infrastructure of OIT through long range planning, and
consideration of Office needs, and the goals of the organization.
This position plays a major role in leading network and communication
projects.  The individual will define and design solutions and
procedures for network and communications projects, including data and
voice infrastructure wiring.  Contributes to developing associated
detailed documentation.  Obtains customer requirements, develops
solutions, project plans and time schedules.  Provides oversight and
technical supervision to team members involved to take projects to
successful completion.  Creates, evaluates and documents existing and
new systems and procedures.  Provide Technical Operation consultation
to customers and technical staff to design and implement network
infrastructure solutions.  Performs capacity planning for Local and
Wide Area Networks to ensure smooth growth and operation to the
network users.  Monitors system usage/growth over periods of time in
order to implement additional resources to handle projected system
requirements.  This affects network performance to network users in
theirs ability access applications.  Implements security measures and
monitoring all network connections, computers, and peripherals
connected to the network, for viruses, inappropriate use, external
hacking attempts, web site filtering, and other security violations in
coordination with the Agency Security Operations Manager.  May be
asked to assist with the coordination of the preparation of the
Department Information Management Annual Work Plan.  This is submitted
annually to the Office of Information Technology (OIT) for review and
approval.  This planning document details hardware, software, budget
and project plans that the Department administers.

Required Qualification:
Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent
desired.  Fours years of professional work experience in Information
Technology management/support and systems analysis in a large and
geographically disbursed business setting.  In addition, at minimum,
two years professional experience in cyber security, Cisco router and
switch configuration, and VPN administration.

Highly desirable qualifications and experience: CCNA, CCNP, Cisco ASA
5525’s, Juniper firewalls and Infoblox appliances.

Applicant should provide proof of all relevant certifications

The position must handle the workload immediately.  Time and resources
are not available for advanced training in the required skills.  This
position provides senior technical leadership and must have a
significant background in network management, and technical leadership
managing a complex network environment.  This position must be capable
of performing independently and provide strong technical leadership.
