Job Description:

Systems Engineer (AIX)

Job Description Responsible for the administration and installation of a
large multi site Netbackup environment running on Unix and Windows Media
and Master Servers. Install, configure and maintain NetBackup clients and
Media and Master Servers attached to virtual disk subsystems and physical
tape libraries. Support backup environment for over 5,000 clients and
almost 4 petabytes of data. Oversee relocation of servers from remote
locations to go forward sites.

Responsible for storage performance analysis and troubleshooting as well as
storage capacity management and planning. Will enable production and
disaster recovery replication and testing. Responsible for data migration
as part of data center consolidation. Will complete code and microcode
upgrades. Will also manage end of life replacement and refresh.

Responsible for ITIL processes including change management, incident
management, problem management, capacity management, and performance
management. Responsible for maintaining storage documentation and
standards. Understanding of IP networking including routing and firewall
rules. Will be required to participate in rotating 24x7x365 on call duties
as well as off-hour planned activities.
Job Specific Responsibilities This position requires that the successful
candidate must be a lawful permanent resident or US Citizen.
Candidate Requirements

Expert in operating systems, subsystems, and Symantec Vendor products
(Netbackup).
6+ years related IT experience.
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.
Self-motivated, reliable individual with the ability to deliver on multiple
projects simultaneously.
Will be required to participate in rotating 24x7x365 on call duties.
Acts in the highest level technical role as an individual contributor
and/or team lead for the most complex technical support and operating
systems or subsystems initiatives.
Responsible for maintaining backup standards.
Responsible for building backup policies, creating backup schedules and
monitoring of backup progress.
Responsible for working with clients to determine backup needs.
Leads, conducts, and coordinates the analysis, planning, and implementation
of systems software and/or hardware.
Plans and defines systems software and/or hardware requirements and
determines system specifications and/or customizations.
Identifies and resolves the most complex problems.
Provides leadership, direction and/or guidance to less experienced staff.

Experience with Symantec NetBackup in a large multi-platform environment
including NBU v6.x/7.x, SSO, Master/media server and client configurations.
Experience installing, configuring, supporting and maintaining enterprise
backups in a large heterogeneous data center environment.
Experience supporting high volume production support environment.
Experience configuring fiber-based tape and disk environments consisting of
IBM tape libraries and tape devices, EMC Data Domains, SUN/STK tape devices
as well as Cisco/McData/Brocade switch/director infrastructure and EMC EDL
disk subsystems.
Experience with support, troubleshooting and problem resolution for tape
backup and SAN environments.
Experience with Tape Storage Capacity Planning.
Experience with backup and DR recovery technologies and techniques
encompassing architecture, design implementation and support functions.
Demonstrated ability to provide technical recommendations on backup
architecture.
Candidate must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

A strong background with backup systems, both hardware and software is
required. Experience with Symantec Netbackup. Familiarity with SAN-based
and IP-based backup solutions.

Preferred Qualifications
8+ yrs. of related technical experience.
Master's degree or equivalent work experience.
Appropriate Certifications.
Strong knowledge in backup/recovery administration/design responsibilities
in an enterprise environment. Linux, Unix (Solaris/AIX) and Windows
experience is a plus.
Experience with Fiber Channel attached SAN storage, ISCSI, and Network
Attached Storage solutions a plus.
Significant experience with Enterprise level backup and recovery software
such as Symantec NetBackup VBR and NOM will be viewed favorably
Good understanding of networking
Prior work experience with provisioning, troubleshooting, and administering
EMC storage hardware including Symmetrix, VMAX, VnX, Clariion, NS,
Enterprise Disk Library (EDL), Celerra, and Centera.
Prior experience with IBM XIV and DS8000 arrays.
Prior work experience with EMC SAN management tools including EMC Control
Center, Connectrix (ECFM), Time Finder, Symmetrix Remote Data Facility
(SRDF), Performance Manager, Storage Scope, Symcli, and NetApp (Onaro)
SANscreen.
Prior experience with Hitachi storage arrays and NAS/HNAS support
