*Position :* Senior Sybase DBA *Location :* Raleigh, NC *Duration :* 6 month + contract phone and face to face. *Responsibilities * • Developing and run ad-hoc reports • Work with Software Engineers to quickly identify and address data integrity issues • Performs systems analysis on database and resolve performance and capacity issues as necessary • Ensure data integrity, security of systems maintained • Develop and manage high availability and disaster recovery strategy • Identify opportunities for sharing and utilizing data across boundaries, thus extracting maximum benefit from the data resource. • Lead associates in database utilization; understanding and interpreting raw data and converting it into information. • Serve as the data custodian in facilitating resolution of business issues, maintaining enterprise data models and data dictionaries • Follow and improve standards for database naming conventions, design and overall data architecture • Design, develop and implement infrastructure to support reliable and scalable database to meet the organization's objectives and requirements • Performs systems analysis on database and resolve performance and capacity issues as necessary • Develop load-balancing and batch processes to minimize impact for large data transfers. • Partner with Release engineering to develop and implement methodologies for managing database deployments *Technical Skills * • Skilled at developing queries for Sybase ASE, and MSSQL, Oracle • Disaster Recovery planning and implementation • Experience with cross data-center propagation of data for DR purposes • Strong knowledge of storage, I/O, and networks as they relate to retrieving and persisting data • Knowledgeable about implementing security for databases (e.g. access control, encryption, etc.) • Experience with Database deployment tools • Excellent knowledge of database administration, programming and systems analysis procedures. • Excellent knowledge of database software and operating systems. • Disaster Recovery planning and implementation *Requirements * • Able to work with minimal supervision and take ownership of multiple assigned tasks and see each of those tasks through to satisfactory completion • Able to manage expectations for multiple stakeholders simultaneously • Capable of working effectively in and with a team of individuals with varied objectives and perspectives • Excellent verbal communications, writing and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in development process • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
