*Job Description*

*Background:*

The Operations Center is seeking a Lead Systems engineer to perform systems
analysis, design, project management and technical leadership and
implementation functions for complex, heterogeneous Information Technology
computing environments. The candidate should have extensive experience
implementing and maintaining a unified communications infrastructure
running in a Microsoft Windows 2008 operating system environment. Candidate
should have strong experience with Microsoft Lync 2013 and Microsoft
Exchange 2007/2013 as well as Microsoft Active Directory. Operations
support functions in a fast-paced, time-to-market-driven environment.
Strong customer service and trouble-shooting skills a must. Demonstrated
experience in the following is strongly preferred:  understanding of SQL
server, enterprise voice and voicemail to e-mail, video conferencing,
mobile device management, network topology, change control processes and
disaster recovery.Tasks:

   - Completing the build out of Lync 2013 infrastructure.  This may
   include travel to up to four locations in the Washington DC metropolitan
   area.
   - Assist with deploying Lync devices such as phones, headsets, video
   cameras for desktops
   - Assist with documenting the Lync environment
   - Assist with documenting standard operating procedures related to
   environment and support of infrastructure
   - Troubleshooting any issues with any component of Lync communications
   (e.g. phones, headsets, etc.)
   - Assist in daily maintenance of Lync environment
   - Part of a team to create a Disaster Recover test plan

 *Required Skills/Qualifications:*

   - College Degree or 8-10 years related work experience, or equivalent
   total experience.  Candidate must have extensive experience in Windows
   Operating System Platform, , Active Directory and group policy. Candidate
   must have been a primary participant and set up a Lync environment in one
   of their previous assignments.
   - *# 1 must have:  *Complete understanding and *direct hands-on
   experience with setting up a Microsoft Lync 2013 environment.*
   Understanding of enterprise voice, Lync mobile clients, Lync web
   application, voicemail to e-mail, persistent chat, and Lync federation


   - *# 1 must have: *Excellent troubleshooting of system and application
   performance related issues and recommend fixes
   - *# 1 must have: *Excellent customer service skillset
   - Self-motivated, adaptable to change and able to function effectively
   in a team environment
   - Excellent written and verbal communications skills should include
   ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures.  Ability to
   write reports, correspondence and procedures
   - Excellent organizational, interpersonal, analytical and presentation
   skills
   - Must be able to prioritize and manage time effectively as well as
   function with no supervision, under tight deadlines, and demonstrate
   initiative in problem diagnosis and resolution
   - Ability to work independently and do research, test and document new
   software and hardware in support of CareFirst, for service request, project
   assignments and corporate initiatives
      - Strong understanding of networking typologies
      - Strong understanding of Storage Area Networks
      - Dell Server hardware experience, including Dell Open Manage
      - Strong understanding of virtualization technologies to include
      VMWare ESX and VMWare view.
      - Proficient knowledge of data replication technologies
      -  Analyze performance statistics (response time, throughput, network
      load, etc.) of systems to confirm performance projections and application
      usage trends
      - Assist with troubleshooting of system and application performance
      related issues and recommend fixes
      - Strong analytical skills, ability to synthesize cross platform
      performance statistics and conduct capacity planning


   - Excellent knowledge of MS Office 2013 tool set – MS Word, MS Excel, MS
   Project, MS Visio and MS PowerPoint
   - Excellent oral and written communications; an ability to present (5%)
   and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport,
   persuades others, and gains understanding
   - Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and work under
   pressure
   - Willingness to work from at least two corporate locations in the
   Washington, DC metro area

*Preferred Skills/ Qualifications*

   - Experience with Solar Winds monitoring systems administration and
   configuration is a major plus
   - Health Care Industry experience will be a plus
