This is a comment that isn't super-related to your actual ideas, but it is something I've been thinking about with tab widgets:
Would it be better to make the tab widget in two parts, one for the strip of tabs, and another for the actual contents of the tab? With the current widget, I don't believe we can actually do a firefox style tab, because there is a button at the end of the tab strip, which the current widget doesn't provide a container for. (this applies as much to the old widget as it does to yours). On a more related note, people seem to be fairly protective of vertical resolution, so it might be a bit of an uphill battle to include this slider. I realise this is on your list of questions/problems, but I think it is quite a significant point (with widescreen laptops being the norm, and netbooks with bad vertical resolution being common) Andy On Thu, 2009-02-12 at 09:01 +0000, Allan Day wrote: > I've been playing around with a few ideas for a new tab widget recently. > Brain dump is here: http://live.gnome.org/ScratchPad/NewTabWidget > > Comments and suggestions are most welcome. > > Allan > > _______________________________________________ > Usability mailing list > [email protected] > http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/usability _______________________________________________ Usability mailing list [email protected] http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/usability
