I agree. I'd envisage something like the UI Review Board we had at Sun, where the UI advocate assigned to a project would instigate meetings with one or more of the UI advocates and the project team, and also 'internal' meetings about the project without the project team present, as required. (It was actually a bit more formal than that at Sun, with a documented review cycle and sign-off process prior to a major release, but I'm not sure we'd necessarily need to go that far...)
