I think it would be relevant to mention explicitly in the HIG's that
menu items should display the corresponding keyboard shortcut, and that
the toolbar buttons should also display them in their tooltip.
Suggestion:
1. add this point to the guidelines of the page Toolbars / Labels and
Tooltips

* If the toolbar control has a corresponding keyboard shortcut,
include it in the tooltip
2. add this point tothe guidelines of the page Menus
<http://developer.gnome.org/hig-book/3.5/menus.html.en>
* If the menu item has a corresponding keyboard shortcut, include
it next to the item's name, aligned to the right
