This modem is in permanent MBIM mode, no mode switch required. If it's already plugged in before power on, the kernel panics during boot. If it's not plugged in, the system boots normally. When the modem is then hot-plugged, the system crashes and reboots within seconds. I have several of these LTE modems and would gladly send one to whomever wants to work on this.
