It was downright amazing.

Most importantly it saved the time of sequentially quitting and loading 
applications, letting you cut and paste from one to another.

Prior to it, there was “switcher” which partitioned memory, but this gave you 
two (or more) entire instances of system+application that couldn’t communicate.
