It is a major %$&*# if one authors a piece of software that requires
data entry via a USB peripheral other than a mouse or a keyboard
(gamepads, footpedals, scanners) as the end-user normally has to install
drivers and so on before using your software.

As almost all USB peripherals are automatically detected by the machines
they are connected to, and there is a plethora of open source drivers for
these peripheral devices, might it not be a good idea to package these
drivers in the upcoming widget format for rolling into standalones thereby
obviating the need of end-users to "get down and dirty" with their
machines?
