*If* I remember, correctly, the default value of the global dontuseQT is
false on Windows (and true on OSX>=10.8).

However, note that QT is not officially supported on Windows 8.1 and 10. It
is quite possible that it will "just work", but not guaranteed.

From Apple's website (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL837?locale=en_US):

***Please note: QuickTime 7 is for use with Windows Vista or Windows 7. If
installed on other versions of Windows, it may not offer full functionality
and is unsupported. ***

If you convert all the video files to .AVI then they should display as
expected (of course make sure that dontUseQT is set to true), but you will
not be able to use the controller for video playback, since this feature is
specific to QuickTime.

I suggest converting one video to .AVI and see if it works, and if not,
please file a bug report.
