but have just installed 8.0.2 stable and the Application Browser (which
I depend on)
works "as it should".

Yes, the Application Browser is also working fine for me on both OSX
and linux on all LC versions.
Annoyingly, the listserv keeps losing (bouncing) emails for me, so I
can't reply to the original thread.
