thanks to all! I didn't find the method in the User Guide:
HEAD isn't mentioned in the section "12.6.3 HTTP methods and http
URLs" and the section on "libURLSetCustomHTTPHeaders" is pretty scarce.
But the dictionary is very clear:
"Use the libURLSetCustomHTTPHeaders command to implement an HTTP
method other than GET, POST, DELETE, or PUT."
I must have overlooked this.
This together with the URL command and the libURLLastRHHeaders should
do the job.
But I already implemented the socket solution first suggested, which
seems to work fine, so I'll leave it at that unless I run into problems.
