To install new font on Linux you must copy the file to /usr/share/
fonts or /home/username/.fonts/ and then rebuild the font cache with:
sudo fc-cache -f -v
For icons, take a look at xdg-desktop-menu and xdg-desktop-icon:

And under Linux, cmd line is ever your friend ;)
