Rome, Check out SourceForge for some existing command-line programs (VirtuaDub comes to mind). Then you could write a really nice interface 'wrapper' around it to do specific things. For instance:
How about a simple program which can generate cool title video animations with only a few clicks. Or, a really nice simple to use interface for SendMail. There are many command line programs which do very cool stuff, if you just know how to use them.
