I thought I read somewhere that you can either use an icon in a menu, or in
a text field, or both...was I dreaming?

Icons in menus are not supported, but you can set "the imagesource of char x of fld y to zzz", where zzz is the id or url of an image...
Check the "imagesource" entry in the dox.
It was something like putting the "/" char or "&" before the item or line.
