I might be confused. I probably am confused.

I thought MDI involved child windows in a window workspace. In that case, it is all in one stack and everything is under the developer's control. You don't have to have some special OS interface. The start bar has nothing to do with it.

Or am I thinking of something else.

Not sure, but that is the same MDI I'm thinking of. I guess(?) the issue being thrown here is that multiple stacks cannot share the same window. The start bar? I'm not sure where that enters it.
