Are you saying that replacing 4 chars is fast or should be fast? I can't make it fast. If it is suppose to be fast how do you do it?

Yes. Perhaps a small growth near the end can be optimized some day. (Appending small amounts is fast on the average.)


I think that replacing 4 chars for 4 chars is fast. Think imageData pixel. I think that replacing 8 chars with 8 chars is fast. Think matrix.
