I believe there is a way to do it using selectedChunk, but not entirely sure of the semantics right now. If the text is relatively static between tests, I suppose you could select word 5, read in the selectedChunk to establish a character range, then select empty and test the selectedChunk for overlap with the version you previously stored when the tab key is pressed. Something like that, anyway.
