Yep, you're correct, they are, but if you're looking to scroll the text to the bottom, then you would want to subtract the margin from the formattedHeight as it's not necessary to include the bottom white space to view the entire text.
I believe the overage is safe in his case, since the scroll will stop at the bottom of the entered text.
But for scrolling to any point other than the bottom you'll definitely want to include that consideration for the margin.
