There should be no such restrictions... Presumably each computer in your network will have an IP address... So you just have a list of IP addresses and a repeat loop that sends the message out to the same port on each IP address in the list.
It'll take a bit of tweaking to get it all worked out, but there should not be a reason why you can't do it. What I would like to get to is a Revolution based system similar to a classroom performance system (http://www.pearsonncs.com/cps/) but utilizing laptops and the improved capabilities of Revolution.
