At least one "brand" of Linux does a wonderful job of facilitating the download and installation of applications and development software for Linux. Linspire has a CNR - Click-N-Run technology that even I can use with great ease.

No, I think Richard was talking about installers for other programs (not for installing Linux) and the lack of a consistent way of installing 3rd party programs on various versions of Linux. I'm sure the *Linux* installers are
easy...
