Somewhere I read that you can customize the look of your controls
(not only the look and feel but replacing the actual controls by
others)...
or am I wrong ?

It's engine built-in.
The code to set it is:
set the lookAndFeel to "Windows 95"
See lookAndFeel property in the docs.
And don't ask me why Windows 95 ;-)
