Have you tried on another site/IP address? I usually use Cisco, they don't block pings.

How sure are you that ping over port 5813 using TCP should work on any system setup to look for ICMP echo mmessages? I tried opening a socket to google over that port and I get a socketTimeout.

open socket "66.102.7.99:5813"

If I run ping from terminal (OS X) then the ping to the same address works. I can see in my traffic watcher (see below) that the protocol being used is ICMP (Protocol: 1).

Any of you network gurus know if ping is possible with Rev right now using sockets?
