If you're looking to get some official certification from Apple and/or Microsoft, you'll probably have to submit your package art for some kind of review process (which takes time). I *do* know that Apple does not allow application of their "Made for iPod" logo unless they approve *all copy* on the box design (and they are very picky for iPod products). However, I believe many folks simply apply system logos to show compatibility at a glance. I would guess as long as you make no claims to being an Apple or Microsoft certified product, use of the OS images is probably OK.
