As far as I'm concerned, you should be told in some way (in 'the
result'? Or am I thinking in too SuperCard a manner?) that the file
is busy. You shouldn't normally be allowed to write to a file which
is currently open for editing in another app - that's very normal
behaviour. Is that what you meant?
