Jacque, you're absolutely right that this would be a potential problem in
the current version.
However, fortunately, Scott has solved this problem for an upcoming
version. In version 37.5c10 of the MC engine, the consciousness property is
set to false by default at idle time, making it safe to assume that all
Jeannes - er, fruitbats - are unconscious unless you've specifically
changed the property in the current handler or a calling handler. (I
understand that a lot of tech support requests for extra mops prompted this
change.)
