I've resolved this problem and thought that I'd pass on the fix to the list.

My problem was with graphics disappearing when I created them from a script
using the create command. When my script is run from within Revolution the
graphic created has its opaque set to "true". The problem I encountered is
that when the same script is run from a standalone distribution, the opaque
of the new graphic is set to false by default.

I resolved my problem by adding a script that sets the opaque of the
templateGraphic in my distribution to true. I had assumed the
templateGraphic from Rev would be carried over to my distribution -- silly
me.

I hope this can save someone else the frustration that I experienced.
