Yvan,
I know it may not be strictly what you are looking for but there are around
14 tutorials currently in development for K-12 (age approx 14+), they are
intended to be used by teachers who can photocopy them to give out in class.
Although they are written for school kids I suspect they will be useful to
other users as well and will be available for download for free to all users
of Rev. Also as time progresses they will also be modified/re-written for
the 18+ user population! They are currently all in paper form with some
examples and problems to work through. We have chosen to use a paper based
system at the moment so that you can refer to the notes and info whilst
programming, this avoids the need to flip between stacks (e.g. your program
and the tutorial) on screen. I suspect however that we will start producing
some electronic tutorials at a later date. Also if anyone has had any
experience of electronic tutorials for teaching other computer programming
languages we would appreciate any comments you have. Finally there is a
range of sample stacks which cover some topics available from the following

ions.html
A rough outline of the tutorials (currently in draft form and the order may
change) is below, also it is a summary and hence omits certain aspects.
1) The basics of revolution
* The basic environment.
* Stacks cards and handlers.
* Introduction to buttons, fields and shapes
*Scripts
*Building your first application.
2) Introduction to Transcript and Interface Objects
* Variables and properties (incl put, set, get, it & me)
* Buttons, fields and check boxes
* Messages
* Mode advanced scripting
3) Chunk expressions and Arrays
4) Mathematical expressions
5) Interface Objects: Using the Gemetry Manager
6) Using the menu manager and group controls. (provisional)
6) Commands, Functions and Variables
7) Animation incl using the animation manager
8) Selection structures (e.g. if, else..if etc) and logical operators.
9) Repeat Loops
10) Pop-up dialogs (e.g. ask/answer) & File handling.
11) Multimedia tools (using the features in Quicktime films and VR,
Playing/recording sounds and paint).
12) Sockets and Internet Apps(writing a basic chat room application)
13) Databases (provisional)
Also:
14) Several large programming projects for use in classes e.g. multimedia,
games, chat rooms and other applications. Not really tutorials as such but
they will be structured in some way to guide students.
As I said this is a rough outline and there are bits being moved around as
we speak! However I suspect they may be useful to non-k12 users as well.

Kind regards,

Subject: Q: Books or tutorials related to rev 1.0 ?
> Hi,

> Does anyone know if there are any books or eBooks available explaining the
ins and outs of Revolution ? Also, I'd like to get some URLs where I could
get or download some stacks to peruse since it's one of the best way to
learn a new tool.
