Of course I tried it, I use this often. I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Wait, are you using control-shift-right click, or just right-click? The former will work in all modes, the latter only when the pointer tool is available (which means will only work in a toplevel window). Sorry, I didn't notice earlier that you specified right-click.
