Need for statement to execute after a connection is opened

Hello,
 
What is the best way to go if I want a certain SQL-command to be executed every 
time after a connection is opened?
I want the DB (Informix) to know that I want a lockwait timeout of 10 seconds. 
'SET LOCKWAIT TO 10'
