It's only as dead or alive as the community makes it. What's probably true is that we need new leadership and contributors on the project, as Gilles has become too busy and hasn't been able to keep up with it.
Otherwise, iBATIS.NET has a good chance of doing even better in the .NET space as its Java counterpart did in the Java space. You guys should vote in a new team. Nominate some people, make some pitches, vote them in and we'll give them commit access. I certainly believe in it, and wish I had the time to do both the Java and .NET versions...
