Hi lads,
HEXAGON 2.5 is out. It does not compete with RS,
its a bare modeller app ( sort of Silo type thing
), but the new version has something interesting
for people who use Second Life and want to add their own models.
Of interest to second lifers: Wiki tutes on a new feature:

"We have good news for you! Your Hexagon 2.5
update is now available ahead of schedule!
The Hexagon 2.5 PC version is complete with
Sculpted Primitives, the DAZ Studio Bridge, and
all the accompanying bug fixes!"
What's New in Hexagon 2.5?
Sculpted Prims are Second Life Primitives for
modeling objects that can be exported in TGA
format, then imported into Second Life (SL) and
applied to a sculpted primitive in SL. In other words, get excited!
HEXAGON - is sold by www.daz3d.com
DAZ have a program called the Platinum Club:
http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/platinum/0/-/?&_m=d
For a small fee per month or annum you end up
getting tons of free models, ridiculous prices on
software like Hexagon - I bought this app via
Platinum club last year for $6 ( even better with
Euro / $ exchange now ). I think they have an
offer on for Hex again this month ( March Madness
). I reckon one could join the plat club for a
month or two - buy the app at reduced price -
then do not renew plat club subscription. You can
buy Hex 2 and the 2.5 upgrade is gratis.
This Sculpted Prims might alone be worth it - besides its a nice modelling app.
Cheers
Aidan
