Here is a write-up about a panoramic photo tripod head that I designed 
and built:

I built it first and decided that modeling it in RS would be the best 
way to show the details of the construction.
The model is made up entirely of analytical objects; using booleans in 
many places, obviously.
I was very pleased with the results  using the "Tech Outlines" post effect.
