Hi,

My team has the following use case:

1. Content Authors download images from a remote repository. These images
contain embedded meta data.
2. Content Authors log in to AdminCentral, navigate to a directory in the
Documents Workspace, and click New document.
3. In the Magnolia Edit Dialog that opens, the Content Author clicks the
Browse button, selects the image they downloaded from the remote repository,
and clicks the Open button from the File Upload window.
4. On uploading the image, Magnolia extracts the embedded meta data from the
uploaded image and populates most of the remaining Meta Data fields.

My question has to do with step 4 of the above use case. Is there currently
coverage for meta data extraction by either the Magnolia DMS module or a
third-party module?
We would like Magnolia to automatically absorb the image meta data rather
than needing to manually input it.

Attached is an example image that contains embedded meta data, if you open
it in Photoshop and choose File -> File Info... You will be able to view the
meta data. I have also attached an export of the meta data as an xmp file
you can open in a text editor.

If there currently isn¹t coverage for this feature, we may need to develop a
custom module to support it. Any assistance, or guidance for where to get
started with this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt
