Hi Mattias, if you want to gain access to Jackrabbit 2.0, please use Magnolia 4.5. 4.4.9-jr2.4 exists for very specific reason which is explained in the release notes, and unless you run into one of the problems mentioned there you should not upgrade.
Your other comments have nothing to do with JR 2.4. AFAIK that code existed in earlier versions of Magnolia and works differently in Magnolia 4.5.
